Sheryn's
Studio
Welcome
to a Gallery of recent paintings
by Sheryn Johnson.
Sheryn is a Saskatoon
water colourist. She grew up in Eastend, in the Cypress Hills
area, one of the most scenic parts of our province, and learned at an
early age to appreciate the rich beauty of nature. Living now in Saskatoon, she
tries to depict in water color her impressions of Saskatchewan
from photos she takes around the city and countryside. Her topics vary
from florals to old buildings, prairie landscapes and forest scenes.
She has taken university classes in Fine Art as well as several
community college classes in painting. Her paintings have been shown at
the Art Museum, Thunder Creek Gallery, and Sask Power Gallery in Moose
Jaw; Grand Couteau Centre in Shaunavon; the Morse Art Gallery; Gracious
Gifts, Delmar Gallery, Gallery on the Bridges, Centre East Gallery and
City Perk in Saskatoon.
In
May of 2008, Sheryn went on a sketchbook tour of France. Several
of the paintings she did from that trip are shown on the Paris &
Provence page of this web site. Last fall she visited the
Maritimes; look for paintings soon that were done of scenes there.
Sheryn
paints with the Prairie River Artists who meet two Saturdays a month at
the Albert Community Centre. They will be showing some paintings
at the Centre East Gallery in the Centre Mall in September and October.
Look for some of Sheryn's paintings at the Saskatoon Exhbition in
August, too.
I recently returned from a sketching workshop tour of Portugal and
Spain with Cecilia Jurgens and 17 other painters. Check
out some of my sketches on that page.
